October 18, 2014 Construction Photo Update

Things are happening for sure in the last 10 days!  Here's a look at some of the developments.  This coming week we anticipate finishing the wall installation process which gets us ready for the roof trusses the following week.  A shout out to Gay Contracting and the many sub contractors - the new core slabs are perfectly fitted to match our current floor levels.  Great work everybody!
If you click on the photos they will also open in a larger format.

Core Slab installation started at 7:30 - finished by 3 PM

Here's where the trailer was stolen from!  Thanks be to God it was found again not far from the church.

Concrete pumps are amazing!

The guys who poured 70 meters of concrete are strong like bulls!

Thanks to CBM / St Mary's for a discounted price on the concrete.

Gym floor pour.

Gym is looking good and a great size for events and activities.

New check in area for our children's ministry area.

These are called structurally insulated panels - in other words - our new walls from Thermapan.

South wing ready for wall installation starting soon.

East wall nearly up in the gym.

New lower level washrooms for children's ministry area.

As the Friendly Giant used to say, "Look way up, Rusty!"

First two SIP's in place.

We had some issues with our new drive way - the fill was not settling out well -
so we have had to bring in some rock to help form a better base.
These guys got started late on the finishing work due to some complications, so we are aware
this created the circumstances for a late night of work at the site.  Our apologies to our neighbours.

September 20, 2014

It's getting exciting!  The past few weeks have been filled with action at Trulls.  The footings have been poured and on September 22 the foundation walls will be poured as well.

We are also thankful to be able to meet at Lydia Trull School just a short distance from the church for our Sunday worship gatherings.

Take a look at some of the recent photos - we're hoping to get closed in by the end of October. Thanks for your interest, prayers and support.

August 23, 2014

Take a look at what is happening now! WOW!  After a delayed start things are rolling now.  We are just about ready to install the final line in for the new sewer connection; we can then do the forms for the footings; inside already we have had the demolition crew working on removing sections that are not needed.  Thankful to God for safety so far and a good relationship with our builder Gay Construction.
It would be great to see a week or two of nice days and no rain to help us along just now.  It's really taking shape though - you can now envision the kinds of new space we will have.  Hope the pics help - til next time...

Old front steps to 1975 building coming down!
                          Balcony is all gone!
Front of Sanctuary was not possible to save in order to add the wings and make it all work!
Excavation work - nearly done - pray the rain steers clear!
Basement floor up, wiring stripped out, openings to new wing sections getting prepared, see next pic.

Exisitng kitchen gets a remodel job!  This is where the stoves used to sit.

Some Good News Stories!

1)  Site Plan Amendment has verbal approval now and within a few days should be issued by the Town of Clarington.  This should allow us to finalize our full building permit.

2)  We have a framer booked in now so that is great.

3)  We have hired a consulting firm to do our Designated Substances Survey - hoping we don't have a lot to deal with out of this study.  Nasty things like asbestos, etc.

4)  We should be able to next week see the excavators working on digging the foundations and footings ditches etc.

5)  Gas line is not yet disconnected but hopefully soon.

6)  We are moving to Lydia Trull School for July 13 - so do plan to go there not to 2301 Trulls Road.  10 a.m. start time.

7) If you are available to help with set up and take down at the School please let Debi Gunter know at 905-436-2300 or trfmc@rogers.com.

8)   We can use the offices during construction times so the church office will be open 9-4 Monday to Friday.

9) Pastor Brian's office had to be moved - so he is now in the Library.  You can still access the Library either on Monday's or by appointment with Debi G.

10)  We have a few things as first come first served.  Two stoves, the wing back chairs from the lobby (pink ones)  and some VHS tapes!

Nice Day - Not Much Work Getting Done!

So here's the latest this week.  Great weather today to be working - a tad hot but dry for sure!

However, we need our gas line to the property shut off so we can get the excavations going full speed ahead.  It appears the lead time for a shut off can be 4 weeks.  Ouch!  Pray that the timeline would be quick.

This impacts other things like the sewer hook-up, the water lines, and the removal of the septic system.
We also had a request from the Ministry of Labour to check the building for any potential harzardous materials like asbestos so we have to get an inspection done too.

And we need a framer for the project.  So far we have had trouble lining one up and they of course are very busy just now.

Usual stuff for construction, right? - Bu it sure would be good to see some more action...  Lift up these requests in prayer this weekend please!

Foundation Permit In Hand - Praise the Lord!

This means we should be able to start things sometime this week.  Fencing and equipment should be arriving soon.

Please remember the North Driveway will be closed so entrance to the property will only be from the south driveway.

Get Ready Set Go!  We're heading for the Promise Land!

Ground Breaking and Bank Day a Fabulous Day May 25, 2014!

The weather was gorgeous for our day outside after the morning service as we turned some sod and announced the totals in from our first Bank Day!  Photos below are some of the great banks - and sod turning photos to come.

Special thanks to those who came to help us celebrate  - Mayor Foster and Councillors Joe Neal and Mary Novak from Clarington Council.

Bank Day provided over $5600 from our Banks...  Thank the Lord and each of you and especially those who decorated their banks.  Many of which were really quite creative and special.

Here are just a sampling of the banks:

Photos are in order of the decorated banks from:
Bruce Anderson, Megan London, Jean Osborne, Dulcie McConnell, Leah Crawford, The McEwen Girls: Tammy Ava and Olivia.
